  1. Most couples spend about a week in the islands – we recommend holding your wedding event by the 3rd day to allow plenty of time to enjoy a honeymoon!
  2. Many airlines offer discounted rates to travelers flying on either Tuesday or Wednesday, and many of the major hotels in offer discounted mid-week rates.
  3. Leave some room in your luggage for keepsake wedding items and island souvenirs.
  4. Waimanalo Beach or Makapu’u Beach are the most popular wedding location choices.
  5. Climate. With our gentle trade winds and usually clear sunny skies, Hawaii is ideal for weddings and honeymoons. The average temperature is about 80 degrees, dropping to about 75 degrees during the winter months. Evening temperatures drop another 10 degrees.
  6. Pack a swimsuit, but bring a sweater or light jacket for nighttime beach walks. 
  7. Time Zone. There is no daylight savings time in Hawaii. When daylight savings time is not in effect on the mainland, Hawaii is 2 hours behind the West Coast; 4 hours behind the Midwest and 5 hours behind the East Coast.
  8. All major credit cards are accepted for most transactions in Hawaii, but keep cash on hand for metered or pay parking and other expenses.
  9. The proximity of the islands to the equator makes the sun more intense. Remember to bring plenty of sunscreen if you are light-skinned.
  10. A gratuity for good service is expected in Hawaii.
  11. Ask a lifeguard about beach and surf conditions before swimming.
  12. Get reservations well in advance for local golf courses.
